Tidewater Physical Therapy’s West Point Clinical Director – Leslie Davis, PT, DPT – will lead a Fall & Balance Prevention Seminar March 26 from 6 to 7 p.m. in her clinic, located at 100 Winters Street, Suite 106.
“Falls shouldn’t be a normal part of aging,” Davis said, “but in many cases, older adults can find changes in their balance and flexibility debilitating.”
One in three people over the age of 65 fall each year, making falls the leading cause of injury in the elderly. Older adults are at a greater risk of falling as they begin to lose strength and flexibility or develop balance, vision or hearing problems.
“We want to keep people on their feet, living life and injury free,” Davis said.
During the seminar, Davis will discuss simple modifications that can be made in the home to help prevent falls. She will also provide information on therapies designed to improve strength and balance.
“With a few simple steps,” Davis said, “you can reduce your risk of falling and continue to enjoy the activities of life.”
Attendees should RSVP by March 19 to 804.843.9033 as space is limited. Attendance is free of charge and open to anyone interested in learning these techniques or helping loved ones live injury free.
Light refreshments will be provided.
