Tidewater Physical Therapy is pleased to announce the expansion of its West Point Clinic, projected to open in September 2016 with added space and more clinicians.
“The expansion of the West Point Clinic is an exciting step for us to continue our growth and commitment to West Point,” said Leslie Davis, PT, DPT, and Clinical Director of the West Point location. “Not only will the expansion add more space, but it will allow us to treat more patients with added privacy.”
The new facility will boast 3,600-square-feet of clinic space, as compared to the current 2,400-square-feet. The expansion includes an open treatment area with more space for individual patient workouts, open space for improved treatment for patients with balance deficits, a floor to ceiling mirror to allow visual feedback during exercises, an added section of gym flooring allowing improved rehabilitation for athletes, greater access to convenient appointment times and same or next day appointments.
“Many of our patients have balance issues and fall risks so the open layout of the new facility will allow us to add variety into our treatment programs including a LSVT Big Program, a program specifically designed to help patients with Parkinson’s Disease,” said Davis.
The clinic expansion also includes bringing on two additional therapists – Jonathan Lloyd, PT, DPT and Aaron Brizuela, PTA.
Lloyd, a Radford University graduate who received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, has a special interest in injury prevention, returning to sport and working with patients with gait and balance problems. He is planning to become certified in Dry Needling, a technique using needles to reduce pain and muscle tightness while increase mobility, in the coming months.
Brizuela, a graduate from Medical Careers Institute, comes with a special interest in manual therapy and orthopedics.
The new clinic is located at 100 Winters Street, Suite 101 in West Point. Operating hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The physical therapists at Tidewater Physical Therapy hold Direct Access Certification through the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy allowing them to evaluate and treat patients without a prescription. As part of patients’ healthcare team, a physical therapist makes an assessment of conditions and creates a plan to start patients on the road to wellness. The Tidewater Physical Therapy team will communicate with patient physicians of record and obtain a referral, if necessary, for continued treatment. Tidewater Physical Therapy also works with insurance carriers to make sure services are covered by patient plans.
