Tidewater Physical Therapy is pleased to welcome Debbie McFarlane to the practice, serving as the Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator for its seven clinics in the North Richmond region. Tidewater operates a total of 13 clinics in the greater Richmond area, and 35 in the Commonwealth.
McFarlane comes to Tidewater following years of experience in the medical field, specifically working in pharmaceutical sales where she held positions in field sales, field training, institutional sales and district management.
She also knows firsthand the impact Tidewater’s clinicians can make on a patient’s ability to live an active life. Before joining the team, McFarlane was a patient herself after sustaining an injury playing tennis.
“My therapist was so experienced and his hands-on therapy really helped me to feel better quickly so that I could return to my tennis league pain free,” said McFarlane.
Originally from Virginia Beach, McFarlane obtained her undergraduate degree from James Madison University where she studied marketing and economics. She went on to earn her Master’s in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.
In her new position with Tidewater, McFarlane will work closely with the Chief Clinical Operations Officer, each Clinic Director and the Director of Marketing to analyze, develop and market the North Richmond clinics.
“My goal is to help foster great relationships with physicians and their teams throughout the region,” McFarlane said, “and help the community better understand the impact physical therapists can have on patients at all stages of life. If you think all physical therapy is the same, there is a good chance you haven’t found the right therapist.”
ABOUT TIDEWATER PHYSICAL THERAPY
Founded in 1986, Tidewater Physical Therapy remains a physical therapist-owned, independent, outpatient physical therapy practice, with more than 30 locations across Southeast and Central Virginia and three Performance Centers.
Many of the physical therapists at Tidewater Physical Therapy Inc. hold Direct Access Certification through the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy allowing them to evaluate and treat patients without a prescription. As part of a healthcare team, a physical therapist will make an assessment of a patient’s condition and create a plan to start on the road to wellness. The Tidewater Physical Therapy team will communicate with a patient’s physician or dentist of record and obtain a referral, if necessary, for continued treatment. Tidewater Physical Therapy will also work with insurance carriers to make sure services are covered by a patient’s plan.
