The greater Richmond region of Tidewater Physical Therapy treated patients nearly 100,000 times in 2014, while celebrating milestone anniversaries at three of their locations.
Ten years ago, the Tidewater Physical Therapy company Christmas party for the clinics in the greater Richmond area brought together five employees from two clinics.
Fast-forward to 2014 and Tidewater Physical Therapy ended the year celebrating with more than 100 team members treating patients at 12 different greater Richmond clinics.
The company’s growth over the past decade is highlighted not only by the growth of team members and clinics, but also by the successful treatment of hundreds of thousands of patients, helping them resume their everyday lives following injury, surgery and chronic disease. Last year alone, Tidewater Physical Therapy clinicians in Richmond logged more than 100,000 patient visits, raised more than $10,000 for charitable groups, in part thanks to its 2nd Annual Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium and Expo, counseled hundreds of residents at free “Ask the PT” events throughout the area and supported countless community events.
And now, Tidewater Physical Therapy is pleased to celebrate, thanks to the community’s support, the milestone anniversaries of three of its clinic locations – Glen Allen, Brandermill and Powhatan.
The Glen Allen and Brandermill clinics, with their long-time loyal patient following and well respected physician and community referral sources, were among the first in the Richmond area and are celebrating their 10-year anniversary. The Powhatan clinic, a powerhouse location with specialties ranging from athlete assessments to general orthopedic care, celebrates its fifth.
“Our exponential growth has everything to do with the people we have hired. They have taken ownership in the company and it’s the philosophy and mentality of our team members to deliver great customer care,” said Kevin Dintino, PT, DPT and Vice President for Tidewater Physical Therapy’s greater Richmond area.
The greater Richmond communities have taken notice of the services and care that Tidewater Physical Therapy provides.
“We definitely have more of a known presence in the area. I notice that while I’m out with my family, just running errands, I know more people than I don’t, all from treating at the clinic,” she said. “It’s been exciting to watch Tidewater become a resource for the friends and families in our community.”
As for the future of Tidewater Physical Therapy, both Dintino and Myers believe the dedicated team of therapists that have fueled their steady growth will be part of the continued expansion in Central Virginia.
“For example,” Dintino said, “I hope to grow the staff by turning a clinic of one physical therapist into two, or two into three. There will also be more of a focus to add specialty programs, such as lymphedema or concussion programs.”
By adding additional staff, Dintino said. Tidewater Physical Therapy can continue to deliver on its promise to remain dedicated to clinical excellence.
That dedication starts with access, Dintino said, and ensuring patients can get in to see a clinician as soon as they need to.
“Having more PTs, having clinics in good locations where people live and work, dedicating ourselves to continuing education and offering specialties for unqiue patient needs is how we ensure people get the access and appropriate care that they need,” Dintino said.
“My personal goal will continue — to do everything I can to help people get back to the highest level of function, “Dintino said. “We want to do all we can do to help somebody recovering from an injury and we use the best evidence-based techniques that will be most beneficial to the patient.”
