Whitney Smith, PTA is originally from Prince George, VA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Old Dominion University and an Associate of Science degree as a
Physical Therapy Assistant from ECPI University. Prior to joining Tidewater in 2012, she taught dance and gymnastics.
As a PTA, Whitney enjoys treating all types of patients but specifically enjoys general orthopedics, dancers, gymnasts, runners, and pediatric patients. Her motivation for becoming a PTA was to help other people return to the activities they enjoy doing.
“I believe in helping patients understand how their body moves and functions. Collaborating with the patient on the treatment process and helping them return to pre-injury function. Using various interventions such manual techniques, exercises, education on proper body mechanics and injury prevention sets the patient up for success in physical therapy.”
Outside of the office, Whitney enjoys running, going to the beach, or doing anything else outside. She enjoys doing all of her favorite activities with her family and friends.
Whitney lives by the words, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts”. Winston Churchill
