In the 10-minute screening, Tidewater Physical Therapy staff will offer some direction on how patients should proceed with any aches, pains or injuries they may have sustained.
“The complimentary injury screenings are provided by a licensed physical therapist,” said Kevin Dintino, PT, DPT, Vice President and Regional Director of Tidewater Physical Therapy’s locations in Richmond. “It’s not a physical therapy evaluation or treatment. It is an injury screening and the physical therapist will provide an appropriate recommendation to help a patient get back to good health.”
Advice offered by the Tidewater Physical Therapy therapists could include further treatment at a physical therapy clinic, or scheduling an appointment with a physician or orthopedic surgeon.
“Sometimes all a patient needs is a little more information about how they should handle their aches and pains,” Dintino said. “We want to help give them the green light to get back to living an active life, and sometimes the first step is knowing where to turn for more advanced treatment.”
About Tidewater Physical Therapy:
Founded in 1986, Tidewater Physical Therapy remains a physical therapist-owned, independent, outpatient physical therapy practice, with more than 30 clinics, aquatic therapy centers and Performance Centers located throughout Southeast and Central Virginia.
Many of the physical therapists at Tidewater Physical Therapy Inc. hold Direct Access Certification through the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy allowing them to evaluate and treat patients without a prescription. As part of a healthcare team, a physical therapist will make an assessment of a patient’s condition and create a plan to start on the road to wellness. The Tidewater Physical Therapy team will communicate with a patient’s physician or dentist of record and obtain a referral, if necessary, for continued treatment. Tidewater Physical Therapy will also work with insurance carriers to make sure services are covered by a patient’s plan.
