PT Profile: Cory Wirt
Cory Wirt, MSPT, received a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia. Today, Cory is the Clinical Director for Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Brandermill location in Richmond.
In addition to treating general orthopedic patients, Cory has a special interest in manual therapy and sports injuries of both the lower extremities and shoulder. He utilizes an exercise based functional treatment approach with a variety of manual treatment interventions to help patients achieve their goals. Cory is certified through Titleist Performance Institute as a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor (TPI-CGFI). In his spare time he enjoys basketball, golf, woodworking and spending time with family.
“I am a firm believer in the manual therapy aspect of the rehabilitation process. I use a variety of manual techniques, combined with functional exercise, to help my patients return to their pre-injury level of function.”
Why work for Tidewater?
Among other reasons, Tidewater gets “patients in as soon as possible,” Cory said. “If someone is hurting, they don’t want to wait a week to get in. We get them in quickly so they can get back to living their lives pain-free sooner.”
Sometimes that means coming in early, skipping lunch and staying late, Cory said.
“I would want someone to do the same for me. I see my community as my extended family. I take pride in being the provider of choice for them.”
