As the city prepares to host its first full marathon on March 15, Tidewater Physical Therapy continues to partner with Point 2 Running Company in Newport News to host a monthly Runner’s Injury Clinic.
The clinics kick off at 6:30 p.m. on August 4, September 8, October 6, November 3 and December 1 at the Newport News Point 2 location at 120 Ottis Street.
Participants should wear running shoes and attire as they will receive a complimentary evaluation of their running injuries and a recommended action plan.
“Running injuries are extremely common due to the repetitious and cumulative pounding on joints, ligaments and tendons,” said Michael Satterley, PT, DPT, CIMT, CSCS, CMTPT who will lead the clinics. “Our goal for the injury clinics is to keep runners on the road and pain free if possible by addressing minor injuries before they progress.”
Satterley is a physical therapist and the Sports Physical Therapy Program Director at Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Oyster Point clinic in Newport News, conveniently located inside the same building as the Tidewater Performance Center on J. Clyde Morris Blvd.
Satterley earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. He has practiced orthopedic and sports physical therapy with Tidewater Physical Therapy since 2006, is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has an advanced manual therapy certification.
