The Certified Hand Therapist
The Certified Hand Therapist designation indicates that an occupational or physical therapist has achieved the highest level of professional recognition in hand therapy. The certification is awarded by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission and recognized by the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT). This credentialing requires a therapist to have a minimum of 2,000 hours of direct practice experience in hand therapy and to successfully complete the Hand Therapy Certification Examination. Our Certified Hand Therapists are active members of the ASHT.
Coordination with the Patient's Physician
A referral from the patient's physician is required for physical therapy. We participate with most major health insurance and health maintenance organization (HMO) plans.
Tidewater Physical Therapy, Inc. provides status reports to the referring physician to communicate the patient's progress throughout the treatment process.
